How Smooth Radio PH Became a Case Study in SuperStaff’s People-First Culture

As any SuperStaff employee can attest. We don’t just hire for skills—we look for people with stories, passions, and dreams. That’s why we support side hustles. Because when people are doing what they love—both at work and outside of it—it shows.

Just ask Ceferino “Rino” Bonilla. He’s a Spanish Bilingual Healthcare Representative on our team. But after hours? He’s running his very own digital radio station: Smooth Radio Philippines.

And we couldn’t be prouder.

From Call Center Floor to Online Radio Studio

Rino joined SuperStaff back in December 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic. He had just come from Wells Fargo and was looking for a place that offered more than just a paycheck—something stable, flexible, and meaningful.

He found all of that here. But what we didn’t know at the time? He also had decades of experience in the radio world—hosting, producing, even managing stations across the country.

Eventually, he turned that experience into Smooth Radio Philippines—a 24/7 online station dedicated to timeless hits from the ’70s and ’80s, mixed with trivia, wellness tips, and stories that make people smile.

What SuperStaff Has to Do With It

Balancing a full-time job and a passion project isn’t easy. But Rino makes it work—and he says his experience at SuperStaff actually helps him run his station better.

“Everything I’ve learned here—how we prioritize people, how we work smarter, how we improve through feedback—I apply all of that to the station,” Rino shared.

He built processes for scheduling, team collaboration, even segment QA—just like we do for our own teams. It’s BPO structure meeting creative vision. And it works.

A Workplace That Roots for You

The real game-changer for Rino? The support.

“It means a lot to work somewhere that doesn’t just tolerate your passion projects, but actually encourages them,” he said.

From leadership check-ins to everyday conversations with teammates, Rino feels seen—not just for the job he does, but for who he is. And when your workplace makes space for your whole self, everything gets better: motivation, creativity, performance.

Why Smooth Radio Matters

Smooth Radio started as a dream. Now it’s a space that connects people across generations and time zones. It features Filipino artists, plays music that comforts and uplifts, and slips in practical tips on health, finance, and life.

Rino calls it “radio with heart.” We call it inspiring.

And the best part? His work here and his work on-air don’t compete—they complement each other. The empathy he brings to healthcare calls helps him speak more meaningfully to his listeners. And the creativity he pours into his radio work shows up in how he solves problems at work.

Why We Support Side Hustles

We get it—people have lives outside of work. Dreams, hobbies, second chapters. And we’re not here to hold them back.

We believe in building a workplace where your passions are welcomed, your goals are supported, and your story matters. Whether you’re running a radio station, writing a novel, starting a small business, or just trying something new—we’ll be right here, rooting for you.
